The healing power of music!

The healing power of musicTonight I was blessed to spend an evening surrounded by dear friends and enjoying the music of one of my favorite musicians Daniel Nahmod. It was pure bliss, I have always been a girl who loves music. A typical day starts out with positive music awakening me so the first thing I hear when I wake up is Alleluia which reminds me of the divine presence. As I start the ignition in my car, I put on music as Daniel is my car companion! Although once in a while I crank a little Jason Mraz or Michael Buble’. I even have my itunes play list playing right now as I type, ahhhh It had to be you by Harry Connick Jr. and then Bad by U2 and then onto Amazing things by Jana Stanfield.  Just think of all of the talent and creativity that went into writing so many beautiful songs, just to bless your ears and touch your heart. I don’t think there is a day that goes by without me listening to some piece of music.

Today it really hit me how much music has the ability to uplift our souls, to remind us of the magnificence within, to brighten our mood and to lift our spirit!

Music can soothe a broken heart when you are facing a challenging time. It can be an amazing tool to quiet your mind. Or it can make you want to sing at the top of your lungs and dance around in your living room. Well, at least it makes me do that! HA! It has the ability to bring us back to a time in our lives in a matter of seconds. If I hear some of my favorite 80′s tunes I am immediately back to my childhood. I can’t tell you how many times I have sang a little diddy about Jack and Diane… instantly I am 7 again. Rather you are soaking the full vibration of music in at a concert, playing an energizing song before a big meeting or talk, or  listening to a favorite tune while taking a bubble bath music has the power to bless and heal our lives.

What music stirs your soul?  How does music shape your life or touch your heart? What songs make you want to sing out loud, and what songs bring tears to your eyes? Take a moment and share your gratitude for all of the ways music has touched your life, and if you feel really inspired reach out and let a musician know how much they have moved you! Music it has the ability to do so much, and today I am beyond grateful for all the ways music in which has played a role in my life!

  1. Hi Sally, Thank you for stopping by and sharing! I love the sound of the harp it is so soothing and magical! Enjoy the beauty of each moment! Blessings, Elizabeth

  2. Thank you for expressing this so beautifully! The saying, “Laughter is the Best Medicine,” could be changed to, “Music is the Best Medicine.”
Each time I begin to play my harp I experience a complete change. I forget all my challenges, schedules, discomfort, and end up in a different mood. Listening to music can also do the same thing.
